Overview

L-Arginine + L-Lysine + L-Proline

Tres Aminos adds L-proline to the arginine-lysine foundation, completing the three-amino-acid core of collagen biosynthesis. Proline constitutes approximately one-third of all amino acid residues in collagen and is the direct substrate for prolyl-4-hydroxylase, the enzyme that produces the hydroxyproline essential for collagen triple-helix stability. Together, arginine drives vascular NO and GH secretion, lysine enables collagen cross-linking and carnitine synthesis, and proline provides the structural backbone of every collagen molecule. This formulation supports the full spectrum of connective tissue repair, vascular health, and anti-aging biology in a single weekly injection.

Mechanism of Action

L-arginine serves as the NOS substrate for endothelial nitric oxide production and drives GH release via somatostatin suppression. L-lysine provides the hydroxylatable residues for collagen cross-link formation through lysyl hydroxylase activity and supplies trimethyllysine for carnitine biosynthesis. L-proline is incorporated into procollagen alpha chains as the most abundant single amino acid in all collagen subtypes, and is hydroxylated by prolyl-4-hydroxylase (requiring ascorbic acid as a cofactor) to form 4-hydroxyproline, which is essential for the thermal stability and structural integrity of the collagen triple helix. Proline also participates in the urea cycle as a downstream ornithine metabolite and serves as an osmoprotective amino acid in cellular stress responses. The three-amino combination simultaneously supports collagen triple-helix assembly (proline), cross-link formation (lysine), and angiogenic vascular support at repair sites (arginine/NO).

Benefits

Collagen Backbone

Proline provides the primary structural amino acid residue in all collagen subtypes, and its hydroxylation to 4-hydroxyproline is required for collagen triple-helix thermal stability and tensile strength.

Cross-Link Formation

Lysine enables collagen cross-link hydroxylation through lysyl hydroxylase activity, converting proline-rich collagen chains into mechanically stable fibrillar collagen.

Vascular and GH Support

Arginine drives eNOS nitric oxide synthesis to support endothelial function and inhibits somatostatin to increase GH pulse amplitude from the anterior pituitary.

Complete Repair Triad

Arginine supports angiogenesis and vascular delivery to repair sites; lysine and proline provide the amino acid substrates for collagen deposition and structural remodeling.

FAQs

What is Tres Amino Injection?

Tres Amino Injection is a prescription therapy used for amino acid support.

Who should use Tres Amino Injection?

Patients seeking support for amino acid support may qualify after evaluation by a licensed provider.

Does Tres Aminos Injection require a prescription?

Yes. This is a compounded injectable preparation requiring a valid prescription from a licensed provider.

What are the possible side effects?

Injection-site soreness or mild bruising is the most common effect. The arginine component may cause transient flushing, mild hypotension, or nausea at higher doses — typically self-resolving. High-dose proline is generally well tolerated; rare GI discomfort has been reported. Patients with a history of hypotension should start at a lower dose under provider guidance.

Who should not use Tres Aminos Injection ?

Not for patients with urea cycle disorders, hyperprolinemia types I or II, lysinuric protein intolerance, or severe hepatic impairment. Patients with hypotension require careful IV monitoring. Do not take if pregnant or breastfeeding

Are there any drug interactions?

Arginine may potentiate antihypertensives and PDE5 inhibitors through additive vasodilation. Concurrent potassium-sparing diuretics or ACE inhibitors increase hyperkalemia risk with IV arginine. Proline synthesis depends on vitamin C as a cofactor for prolyl hydroxylase; concurrent vitamin C deficiency will reduce the therapeutic effect of proline supplementation.

Is Tres Aminos Injection safe if I have a pre-existing medical condition?

Patients with cardiovascular disease, renal or hepatic impairment, or electrolyte disorders require provider evaluation before starting. Patients with hyperprolinemia (a rare inborn error of metabolism) must not use proline supplementation without specialist clearance. Diabetic patients should monitor blood glucose given arginine's insulin secretagogue activity.
