FAQs

What's the difference between IgE and IgG allergy testing?

IgE measures immediate hypersensitivity โ€” true allergies that cause reactions within minutes to hours (sneezing, hives, anaphylaxis). IgG measures delayed sensitivity reactions that occur 3โ€“72 hours later (fatigue, bloating, brain fog). This panel is IgE-only, detecting true allergic reactions.

How does the dried blood spot (DBS) collection work?

The kit includes a lancet for a simple finger prick and a special collection card. You place a few drops of blood onto the card, let it dry, and mail it back in the prepaid envelope. No phlebotomist or lab visit needed. Results are as reliable as traditional serum testing.

Is this the same as a skin prick test?

No. A skin prick test requires an in-office visit where allergens are applied to your skin. This panel uses a simple at-home dried blood spot (DBS) collection method โ€” just a finger prick. Your sample is mailed to Infinite Allergy Labs, a CLIA-certified and COLA-accredited laboratory, where IgE antibodies are measured using validated immunoassay methodology. Results are clinically equivalent to traditional serum testing.

What do the IgE classes mean?

Results are classified from Class 0 (Absent, <0.35 kU/L) to Class VI (Extremely High, >100 kU/L). Classes II and above generally indicate clinically significant allergic sensitization. Higher classes correlate with stronger immune reactions upon exposure.

How long until I get results?

Results are typically available within 5โ€“7 business days after your sample is received at Infinite Allergy Labs' CLIA-certified, COLA-accredited laboratory. This is one of the fastest turnaround times in the industry.

Can I combine this with food allergy testing?

Yes โ€” Infinite Allergy Labs offers a combined FAST + Environmental bundle that tests IgE reactions to 88 environmental allergens AND measures IgE, IgG, IgG4, and C3b/d to 88 food antigens. Ask about the combo panel for comprehensive coverage.

Do I need a doctor's order?

No. Our clinic handles the ordering process. A licensed provider reviews your intake and authorizes the test. No separate doctor visit or prescription is needed.
