In animal studies, GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonists have been associated with thyroid C-cell tumors; the relevance to humans is not established, but this medication is contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2.

Contraindicated in patients with a history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, MEN 2, known hypersensitivity to tirzepatide, severe gastrointestinal disease, or pregnancy.

Tirzepatide may slow gastric emptying, affecting absorption of other oral medications. Do not use with other GLP-1 or GIP receptor agonists. Cross-reactivity with GLP-1 agonists has been reported. Disclose all medications to your provider.
